Golf card good at city courses
With two county golf courses, Hangman and Liberty, closed or partially closed for reconstruction, the Spokane Parks Board has voted to implement a special promotion that will honor county Adult Discount Cards at the city’s discounted rate.
The promotion will be valid at all four city golf courses, weekdays through Oct. 31.
Riverfront park
GSSAC Art of Recovery Saturday
The Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council’s Prevention Center will hold the third annual Art of Recovery on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Park Clocktower.
The occasion is a gathering to support people who are in recovery, and educate participants about the signs and stigma attached to addiction.
Musicians, painters, poets, and more will be included in the event.

Manito
Candlelighters event Sunday in Manito Park
The Candlelighters of the Inland Northwest will hold the annual candlelight vigil Sunday in Manito Park from 6 to 8 p.m.
The event will allow the community to come together, along with Mayor Mary Verner, to proclaim September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The Candlelighters will have a Celebration of Life on Sept. 26 at from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Service Station, 9315 N. Nevada St.
The Celebration of Life was created when Stephanie and Andy Brown wanted to celebrate their daughter Sammy’s life after her first year of treatment for leukemia. The Brown’s turned their celebration into a fundraiser to support Candlelighters and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
The event will include live music and food. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at the Service Station or by calling Candlelighters at 474-2759. Tickets at the door are $20.
