Lilac City Badminton Tournament:

Discovery Washington’s Ice-Age Flood:

Fundraiser for hearing and seeing. Bring your own horse. Silent Auction and Gala:

Fundraiser for the 29th National Veterans Wheelchair Games, coming to Spokane in July 2009. This is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the world and the competition is fierce. Tour des Lacs:

Two-day cycling tour from Spokane to Coeur d’Alene and back. Multiple route and mileage options and boat cruise on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Luggage transport, lots of food and great scenery. Chili Cook Off:

Twelfth annual event. Presented by Coeur d’Alene Honda to benefit Children’s Village Of Coeur d’Alene. Setup for contestants begins at 9 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The contest is open to the public with cash awards. Judging for the various categories will begin at 1:30 p.m. Each contestant/team must prepare a minimum of two gallons of chili. Signup sheets and rules may be requested by calling or emailing bikes@cdahonda.com. Chili tasting is open to the public for a $5 donation to the Children’s Village and individuals are encouraged to vote for their favorite chili in the “People’s Choice” category. The Children’s Village will also be selling hot dogs and drinks. DJ music by Brian Wojnar with Generations Entertainment. The Children’s Village provides care for area children who have experienced problems such as abuse, depression, behavioral difficulties, poor social development and lack of anger management. In addition, the child may have specialized educational needs or a family conflict, which impairs their ability to function in the home, school, or community. Group Health Kids Bike Race Series:

Free community outreach event for children up to age 13. Booths will be set up in the parks at each event so kids can test their strength with Group Health physical therapists “Stretch It Here” program, visit the foundation’s Blood & Guts exhibits and receive a bike safety check at REI. Family games provided by the YMCA of the Inland Northwest and safe cycling tips will be offered by the Safe Kids Coalition. Parks participating are: Saturday, Audubon Park; and Sept. 28, Mirabeau Park, near YMCA in Spokane Valley. Race Times are noon for ages five and younger; 12:30 p.m. for six-year-olds; 12:45 p.m. for seven-year-olds; 1 p.m. for eight-year-olds; 1:15 p.m. for nine-year-olds; 1:30 p.m. ten-year-olds; 1:45 p.m. for 11-year-olds; and 2 p.m. for ages 12-13. Kayak Tour on Horseshoe Lake:

Join Save Our Wild Salmon, Slow Food Spokane River and Spokane Falls Trout Unlimited for a celebration of the bounty of Salmon Nation. Enjoy a delicious multiple course dinner by Chef David Hill, featuring sustainably-caught wild salmon, eastern Washington wheat and locally grown produce.
