Family secret exposed in ‘Ghost Whisperer’

By MIKE HUGHES Gannett News Service

Tonight’s might-see

“Ghost Whisperer,” 8 p.m., CBS.

We’re two weeks from this show’s season-opener. (A presidential debate dominates next Friday.) First, here’s a rerun of the current season’s finale.

Melanie finally learns what happened to her father and why her mother kept it a secret. She also gives him some final help.

Tonight’s might-see II

“Dog Whisperer,” 9 p.m., National Geographic Channel.

Everyone likes a story with a happy ending, but how about 100 of them?

For his 100th episode, Cesar Millan has a reunion with many of the dogs and their people. He also shows clips.

Some dogs were scary or frustrating. Milan was bleeding during one project; he started to walk away from another when the human lacked resolve.

Others were just silly. One’s entire goal was to race out and leap into any water.

All were tamed by Milan’s manner. He creates sort of a canine “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” a place where gentle spirits prevail.

Other choices include

“America’s Toughest Jobs,” 8 p.m., NBC. After an early ride on Mondays, this reality show steps into its tougher slot. It’s been here for some reruns, but now it has new Friday episodes, starting with this one. In the blazing heat of Midland, Texas, the nine remaining contestants are working on an oil rig.

“America’s Funniest Home Videos,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. This reruns the season finale, giving out the year’s top prize.

“Numb3rs,” 9 and 10 p.m., CBS. In the first rerun, members of a cult refuse medical help after a poisoning. Soon, a scheme is uncovered. In the second, Don and Charlie have opposite views of handling security threats. Also, Megan (the talented Diane Farr) quits to become a social worker.
