Boy, father sought after dispute
Spokane police are searching for a 7-year-old boy apparently taken from a north Spokane home Saturday afternoon by his father during a domestic dispute.
A police report said officers responded to a call for help from a residence in the 1100 block of North Stone Street.
Witnesses said Frank T. Redthunder Jr. was last seen bicycling away from that address with Frank Redthunder Sr., his father.
The father, 45, stands 5-feet, 7-inches tall and was wearing his hair in long black braids and last seen riding a silver bicycle.
A police press release said there is probable cause to arrest him for an assault related to Saturday’s dispute.
Redthunder Sr. has two outstanding warrants for his arrest, unrelated to this incident.
His son is described as 3-feet, 4-inches tall, with short cropped brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and gray striped T-shirt and riding a purple mountain bike.
Arrest made, victim sought
Spokane police are looking for a woman who was the victim of an attempted purse snatch in order to charge a female suspect with the crime.
On Friday afternoon at NorthTown Mall, a woman tried to grab the purse of a woman between 55 and 60 years old with reddish silver hair, witnesses told police. The woman managed to keep her purse during the attempted theft.
Police later arrested a suspect based on witnesses’ information. None of the witnesses, however, could say who the victim is.
Officials are asking the victim or anyone knowing her identity to call 911 to provide information for case number 08-288644.

Valley family escapes house fire
An early Saturday morning fire forced a family to flee their home at 1826 N. Salmon River Lane in Spokane Valley.
Three people home at the time escaped safely. Spokane Valley Fire District units controlled the fire within an hour.
According to a fire department release, the fire destroyed a garage and an upstairs nursery.
The main structure of the home was relatively undamaged, according to the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Nude skater asked to cover up
Portland police took a waterfront Lady Godiva down a notch this week. Barely.
They were getting calls about a nude in-line skater whizzing past tourists and rush-hour commuters.
But you can do that in Oregon, where occasional nude bike rides draw police only for crowd control and shows featuring live sex acts are protected as free speech.
Portland police told her to tone it down after construction workers complained. Moss donned a string bikini bottom for the nonce and skated on.
Police say most callers are concerned about her safety.
