Have dinner with NIC basketball team, coaches

 

The North Idaho College men’s basketball team invites community members and sports fans to have dinner with the team and coaches at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at Centennial Distributing in Hayden.

Dinner with the NIC men’s basketball team will be catered by Famous Willies Texas Style Barbecue and will also feature special guest Hugh Watson, who served as the head men’s basketball coach at NIC from 1996-2004.

Under Watson, the 1996-1997 Cardinals created a wave of excitement as they played to a 33-6 record and a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA national tournament. Watson’s success was highlighted by being voted 1997 Coach of the Year for the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

The event is sponsored by Centennial Distributing, 701 W. Buckle Ave., in Hayden.

Tickets are $30 and seating is limited. Tickets are available in the NIC Athletics Office, in Post Hall on NIC’s main campus.

Post Falls

Life Care names staff

Life Care Center of Post Falls, 460 N. Garden Plaza Court, recently announced its lineup of head staff. They are scheduled to open for residents next week. The skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility will have an open house on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Valeri Zaharie-Glauser will be the facility’s executive director. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing and a licensed nursing home administrator in Idaho and Washington. Zaharie-Glauser has more than 20 years of experience in the senior care industry.

Lorri Tretter will be director of nursing. She has more than 20 years of experience in health care and has spent most of her career in geriatrics.

Rehab services manager Michelle Bartlett, marketing director Lisa Turpin and activities director Terri Robinson will also be a part of the staff at Life Care Center.

Life Care Center of Post Falls has the capacity to care for 120 residents and will provide long-term care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation. For more information about Life Care, visit www.lcca.com.

Coeur d’Alene

Irish, Scottish music, dance

Enjoy an evening of Irish and Scottish music and dance with Free Whiskey and Arvid Lundin and Deep roots with Saint Patrick’s Irish Dancers. Young performers Sam Bates and Amy Wilkerson will also be a part of the festivities.

The event will be held on Saturday at the Harding Family Center, 411 N. 15th St., in Coeur d’Alene.

The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors 60 and over. Children 5 and under are free.

Bonner County

Fall election festival Saturday

The Bonner County Democrats will host a fall election festival on Saturday at the Bonner County Fairgrounds from 5 to 8 p.m.

Activities include live music by the Shook Twins Band and food by Ivano’s Pend Oreille Pasta, Ice House Pizzeria and more. Kids and adults can enjoy art activities and voter registration and absentee ballot applications will be available.

The event is free and open to the public.
