Portables donated to Freeman

When construction of Rogers High School is complete in January, five portable classroom buildings currently lined up alongside the school will be donated to the Freeman School District as it begins its own construction project.

The portables are being given away for free, but Freeman will be responsible for paying to move them, said Mark Anderson, Spokane Public Schools associate superintendent for school support services. Now the district won’t have to worry about getting rid of them. “They’d have to be disassembled and moved to another location, probably costing us about $250,000 to do so.

“By spring, we’d like them gone,” Anderson said. “That’s where our new student parking is going to be.”

Freeman superintendent Sergio Hernandez is grateful for the donation. “It’s a tremendous help to our district,” he said.
