Olgard powers Panthers past NC

Mt. Spokane, Shadle, U-Hi also GSL winners

The five-time defending State 4A champion Mead Panthers keep breaking out the brooms.

USC recruit Alexis Olgard turned in another powerful all-around performance with 16 kills, 10 digs, five aces and three blocks as Mead swept host North Central 25-12, 25-20, 25-17 in a Greater Spokane League volleyball contest Thursday night.

Kaitlen Kelly had six kills and three aces for NC (0-3 GSL) and Alicia Allen led all players with 13 digs.

Setter Emma Barrington dished out 27 assists and 10 digs for the Panthers (3-0) – one of three unbeaten teams in GSL play.

East Valley (2-0) and Lewis and Clark (2-0) meet tonight at LC, which will leave only two teams with a perfect GSL record.

Also in the GSL, Rachel Kerr had 12 kills and two blocks in Mt. Spokane’s 25-9, 25-19, 25-21 victory over visiting Ferris. With the score tied 21-all in the third set, Kerr had three kills to help the Wildcats (2-1) complete the sweep over the Saxons (0-3), who were led by Kaitlin Moore’s 11 digs and two aces. … Amy Before stepped up in the fifth set, picking up six of her match-high 17 kills in the deciding game of Shadle Park’s 25-10, 23-25, 25-21, 26-28, 15-9 win over visiting Central Valley (0-2). Kaylee Rector collected 37 digs for the Highlanders (2-1) while CV’s Kelsey Solberg and Kyona Hunt finished with 22 digs apiece. … Setting sisters Ashley and Jessica Moon turned in identical 16-assist performances in University’s 25-10, 25-8, 25-11 sweep of visiting Rogers (0-2). Amy Hallett had 18 digs for the Titans (2-1).

Inland Empire League: Danielle Meehan’s nine kills – including one for the game-winning point – helped visiting Post Falls to a 25-13, 25-22, 21-25, 15-25, 15-13 victory over Lewiston (2-5 IEL).

Andrea Mohney chipped in six aces for the Trojans (1-6).

Also in the IEL, Kama Griffits had 11 kills and 12 digs as Coeur d’Alene (7-0) defeated visiting Moscow 25-18, 25-15, 25-13. Bridgitte Lowe had 10 kills and an ace for the Bears (4-4).

Great Northern League: Shaniqua Nilles had 16 kills and a block as West Valley (3-1 GNL) swept host Clarkston 25-19, 25-19, 25-13.

Kellie McCann-Smith’s 11 kills, seven digs and three aces paced the Bantams (1-3).

Also in the GNL, Gabrielle Daily’s 13 kills and five blocks helped Medical Lake (1-3) edge host Cheney 14-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12. Millie Holy led the Blackhawks (0-4) with 14 kills and three aces. … Makayla Carr had 20 kills as Colville (3-0) beat visiting Riverside 25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20. Elizabeth McKinney finished with 30 assists, 13 digs and six aces for the Rams (2-2). … Pullman (3-0) swept visiting Deer Park (2-2).

Boys soccer

Inland Empire League: Senior Robby Astin finished with a hat trick and an assist, Jordan Eborall scored two goals and Forrest Walker added a goal and an assist in Coeur d’Alene’s 8-0 shutout at Lewiston (0-6-1 IEL).

Jeff Traw and Patrick Green each netted their first career goals for the Vikings (4-2-0).

Also in the IEL, Moscow’s (4-2-1) Taylor Anderton scored two first-half goals, but Lake City’s Tyler Powers and Oscar Kosok answered in the second half to force a 2-2 tie at Lake City (5-1-1). … Adam Crossingham scored twice, Spencer Swerin had a goal and a pair of assists and Sandpoint (6-1-0) won 5-1 at Post Falls (0-6-1).

Girls soccer

Inland Empire League: Bailey Hewitt buried two goals – both on headers – as the host Sandpoint Bulldogs (5-0-1 IEL) blanked Post Falls 2-0.

Hannah Slinkard made 11 saves in net for the Trojans (2-5-0).

Also in the IEL, Lake City’s Shannon Fraser made the most of a penalty kick in the final minute of regulation to force a 1-1 tie between the Timberwolves (2-1-4) and the host Moscow Bears (1-3-2). … Sadie Simon had a pair of goals and assists in Coeur d’Alene’s 4-1 victory over visiting Lewiston (1-6-0). Hayley Smith and Alex Jacobson also scored for the Vikings (4-0-1).

Great Northern League: Deer Park’s Carly Hjelm scored a hat trick and notched an assist in the Stags’ 5-0 shutout victory at Medical Lake (3-1 GNL).

Stevie Harris also scored and assisted on Hjelm’s first goal as Deer Park (2-2) handed the Cardinals their first loss in league play.

Also in the GNL, Chelsie Breen headed in a corner kick from Kellie Zakrzewski and buried a shot from 30 yards out in the first half of Cheney’s 4-0 win over host Riverside (0-4). Zakrzewski and Molly Gough also scored for the Blackhawks (2-2). … Kendra Heim and Niina Al-Hassan scored unassisted, second-half goals in Pullman’s (4-0) 2-0 win over host Clarkston (0-3). … Four unassisted goals – scored by Kaley Way, Alex Fraser, Deedee Garbe and Torry Finn – gave West Valley (4-0) a 4-0 win over host Colville (0-3).

Intermountain League: Kelsie Ragan and Megan Beck each scored a pair of goals in a 4-0 St. Maries’ (3-2-0) victory over visiting Timberlake (2-5-0).
