Error delays mailing ballot forms

Associated Press

A printing glitch is being blamed for a delay in mailing absentee ballot request forms to some voters in North Idaho.

Kootenai County Clerk Dan English says the printing company hired for the November election made a mistake in the coding of the ballots and must reprint the entire batch.

English says that mistake is forcing the county to postpone its plans to mail more absentee ballot request forms to voters this week.

The new ballots are expected to be shipped to the county next week.

English, anticipating a record turnout at the polls, hoped to send absentee request forms to voters in eight precincts that have the potential for overcrowding on Election Day.

English says the county has already mailed 6,000 absentee ballots, but those will be fixed manually.
