A six-year grant from College Spark to Spokane Public Schools, totaling $500,000, aims to prepare students for college.

Beginning in the summer, Rogers High School, Garry and Shaw middle schools will provide social and academic support to students through the AVID and Navigation 101 programs. Rogers and Garry received the grant for both programs, and Shaw received the grant for the Navigation 101 program.

Advancement Via Individual Determination is an international academic support program for students in grades 4 through 12 that offers college prep courses.

Navigation 101 is a life skills and planning curriculum for students in grades 6 through 12.

College Spark Washington’s goal is to fund programs to help low-income students become ready for college and help them earn their degrees.
