Animals deserve decency
Saturday, March 28, I read of an elderly dog, its throat cut, left to die in a trash bin. What horror and fear that dog must have felt! Every day it continues to disgust me (as I’m sure others) at the level of depravity our “superior” species will sink to.
Are these people incapable of thought, feeling or shame? Apparently. Our animals give us unconditional love, overlook our faults and don’t care what we look like. Yet, so many people see them as objects. What’s wrong with you?
In our “respectable” neighborhoods we see dogs penned or chained up with no attention, left alone to become neurotic and stressed. These same people wonder why their dog doesn’t behave. I wonder why these people have them.
Washington state House Bill 5651 provides more legislation in curbing acts of animal cruelty along with more appropriate punishments. Encourage your state officials to impose stricter laws.
Lastly, if you can’t financially afford to properly care for an animal, or don’t have the good sense to know they need guidance, exercise and love – don’t have them. You are doing them a disservice and, again, proving we humans are far less than “superior.”
