Newspapers will be missed
A sign of the times or lack of the “Times,” I find it very sad that newspapers are closing throughout this country.
I delivered The Spokesman-Review when I was young and it seemed every other house on my route had the paper delivered. My cousin delivered the Chronicle in the afternoon, and many homes received both papers. There is something about reading the paper during breakfast that just is not same as reading it online. I always start with the Sports section and work my way through rest of the sections.
Newspapers once were a prime vehicle of holding public servants accountable, but now because of budgets are a mere shell of themselves. No matter what your political affiliation, or if you believe that there is some sort of bias, the loss of daily newspapers is truly sad.
My parents were immigrants after World War II from Germany, and they used the paper to teach themselves English and learn about the U.S. My dad also learned to love baseball and football, reading the Sports section. I know I will miss it when it is gone.
