Passenger dies in one-car accident east of Colville

A Colville woman was killed Wednesday evening in a one-car accident 15 miles east of Colville that also injured the driver, state troopers said. Linda Ann Lobdell, 68, the passenger in a 1994 Honda Civic, died at the scene of the collision on state Highway 20 about 6 p.m. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to Washington State Patrol. The driver, 65-year-old John Edward Chaney, was treated and released from Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville. Troopers said Chaney was headed east on the highway when he lost control of the vehicle and went off the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder. The vehicle partially rolled and struck a tree.
