Suppose he was just jokin’ ?

Shades of Joaquin Phoenix: In an appearance reminiscent of actor-turned-musician Phoenix’s turn on David Letterman’s show, actor-turned-musician Billy Bob Thornton gave a puzzling, difficult interview on a Canadian radio show Wednesday.

Appearing with his band the Boxmasters, he evaded simple questions and criticized the host for mentioning his movie background.

When Jian Ghomeshi asked when the band formed, Thornton said: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Asked what music he listened to when he was young, Thornton talked about reading the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland.

And he bristled when Ghomeshi suggested he was passionate about music, huffing: “Would you say that to Tom Petty?”

Thornton eventually explained he was angry about his acting career being mentioned in his introduction, saying: “You were instructed not to talk about (stuff) like that.”

Says Ghomeshi: “To not answer questions because I made the apparently egregious mistake of calling him an actor as well as a musician, it just seemed a little absurd.”

Too much Kanye-do attitude?

Kanye West says his skewering on Wednesday night’s episode of “South Park” has made him stop and think.

The famously self-important rapper said on his blog Thursday that the show was funny, but also hurt his feelings and made him realize he might need to stop saying how great he is.

Said West, in typical all-caps mode: “I JUST WANT TO BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM.”

Speaking of dope …

Britney Spears is apologizing to fans after smoky conditions at a concert in Vancouver, B.C., led to a 30-minute delay in her show.

According to The Vancouver Sun, Spears’ concert was halted about 15 minutes into her performance, and an announcer told concertgoers to put out their cigarettes.

Her rep later said “crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue.”

After returning to the stage, Spears cautioned the audience: “Don’t smoke weed.”

He’ll never say he’s sorry

Prosecutors have charged the son of Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett with a felony count of bringing drugs to a Los Angeles area jail.

While out on bail from another drug case, Redmond O’Neal was arrested after deputies said they found heroin when he was stopped at a security checkpoint.

He and his father were arrested last year at the actor’s Malibu home after officers said they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a search.
