Boaters approaching Nine Mile Dam north of Spokane should be careful.
High water and debris this weekend caused the boat restraint cable above the dam to break, and it will be some time before it can be repaired.
Avista Utilities says the cable prevents boats from being swept over the dam, which forms Lake Spokane on the Spokane River.
The Plese Flats boat launch has been closed, and Avista suggests river users stay out of the water between Plese Flats and the dam.
The company could not estimate when the cable will be replaced.
