Spokane-area Jiffy Lube service centers raised more than $30,000 for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Movement, during a six-week fundraising campaign that just ended.
Nationally, Jiffy Lube customers donated more than $1.35 million to the American Heart Association through this campaign.
Last year, the same campaign raised about $1 million.
For a $3 donation, Jiffy Lube customers got a book with savings coupons for Jiffy Lube and other merchants, as well as heart-healthy recipes and lifestyle tips.
The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign is aimed at educating women about heart disease, which kills one out of three women, though it’s often preventable.
“We are ecstatic that Jiffy Lube is making such a large contribution once again,” said Lyn Hughes, vice president of national corporate relations for the American Heart Association. “Major contributions like this one are very important to funding our mission since the economy can impact how much people donate to charities.”
The funds raised in Spokane will go to the local chapter of the American Heart Association.
Jiffy Lube plans to hold the same fundraising campaign in 2010.
