Facts about Y pools

The Spokesman-Review

In response to the April 17 letter “Therapy pools differ,” Ms. Fanger is correct in her description of the size and temperature of the therapy pool in the soon-to-be-opened Central YMCA-YWCA, but that is where accuracy ends.

There will be both access stairs and a therapy lift for both our warm water and lap pools. There is no added pool fee. Use of the warm water therapy pool is included with a membership as well as free parking. And thanks to the generosity of hundreds of annual donors, we have instituted a “Membership for All” program which allows people to pay tailored membership dues that are based on household income. In all likelihood, this monthly cost would be less than $30 for Ms. Fanger and others in similar circumstances.

I understand that she is upset with the closing of the Salvation Army therapy pool, but those considering the Central Y alternative should have accurate information from which they can make an informed decision.
