Area residents graduate from Air Force basic training

Nine local residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air National Guard Airman Jacob Crow earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course. He is the son of Daryl Crow of Spokane Valley, and graduated in 2001 from Central Valley High School.

Air Force Airman Gabriel Eloe earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Timothy and Melissa Eloe of Otis Orchards.

Air Force Airman Alden Skeie is the son of Jill Skeie of Mead, and is a 2006 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School.

Air Force Airman Timothy Jones graduated from Ephrata High School in 2008, and is the son of Bryan and Colleen Jones of Ephrata.

Air Force Airman Jack Kemp is a 2004 graduate of West Valley High School in Yakima, and is the son of Jack Kemp of Spokane and Donna Kemp of Post Falls.

Air Force Airman Thomas Vanhaverbeke graduated from Rogers High School in 2005, and is the son of Terence and Crystal McLure of Spokane.

Air Force Reserve Airman Tristan Sertich is the son of Stephani Sertich of Spokane, and a 2007 graduate of Havermale High School.

Air Force Airman Timothy Arnzen is the son of Alan Arnzen of Mead, and graduated in 2008 from Mt. Spokane High School.

Air Force Airman Rachel Howard is a 2008 graduate of Central Valley High School, and is the daughter of Mark and Sharon Howard of Spokane Valley.

•The following students were awarded scholarships from Washington State University.

Phillip Gannon received a $600 Construction Management scholarship. He is a 2006 West Valley High School graduate, and is the son of Stephen and Vicki Gannon of Spokane.

Michael Hauschild received an $800 Construction Management scholarship. He is the son of Steve and April Hauschild of Spokane, and graduated from West Valley High School in 2006.

Marisa Hagney was awarded a $750 R.H. Logan Scholarship. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 2007, and is the daughter of John and Pat Hagney of Spokane.

Jerod Harwood was awarded a $500 Don Weller scholarship. He is the son of Mark and Della Rae Harwood of Greenacres, and graduated in 2004 from Central Valley High School.

Cody Glasgow was awarded a $750 Columbia Paint Co. scholarship. He graduated from Rogers High School in 2003, and is the son of Del Glasgow and Julie Ann Gyarfas of Spokane.

Laura Woodard received a $1,000 Albert W. Thompson scholarship for studying abroad. She is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Woodard of Spokane Valley, and graduated from University High School in 2006.

Krista McNeal was awarded a $1,000 Carson International Scholars scholarship for a summer internship program in Italy. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 2007, and is the daughter of Toby McNeal and Laura Deland of Sandpoint.

Tyler Alvarado received a $2,000 Keybank Diversity scholarship and a $250 Rod Church Graduate Fellowship. Alvarado is the son of Gary Alvarado of Spokane and Terri Alvarado of Liberty Lake. He graduated in 2004 from East Valley High School.

Molly Fuhs was awarded a $1,000 Diane Ballasiotes Memorial scholarship. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 2006, and is the daughter of Bryan and Valerie Fuhs of Spokane.

Raechelle Scott was awarded a $500 Maynard Hicks scholarship, a $1,000 Pioneer Newspaper Communication scholarship and a $1,000 W. Newland Reilly Memorial scholarship for her efforts in journalism. She is the daughter of Ellen Scott of Spokane, and graduated in 2006 from Lakeside High School.
