Wineries hold tastings for Mother’s Day

The Spokane Winery Association’s first Spring Barrel Tasting will be held Mother’s Day weekend – May 8 through May 10. Local Spokane wineries are marking the end of the winemaking season and the start of a new wine year. Old wines and, at some wineries, pre-release wines from barrels and/or tanks, will also be available for sampling. Food sampling will also be part of the Barrel Tasting, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Hunger walkers hit trail on Sunday

The 31st annual Spokane CROP Hunger Walk will be Sunday, beginning at Martin Center at Gonzaga University. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the walk will start at 1:30 on the Centennial Trail.

The fundraising event includes live entertainment by the Angus Scott Pipe Band.

Participants are asked to donate nonperishable food items to Second Harvest Inland Northwest Food Bank, and those with pledges of $100 will receive a free T-shirt.
