Questions still unanswered

The Spokesman-Review

After reading the article concerning the police disciplinary cases, I must admit to being just a bit upset with our city government.

City Administrator Danek’s statement of support for City Prosecutor Bledsoe seems, in my opinion, to smack of cover-up and possibly even collusion. Mr. Bledsoe, the only “temporary lapse of judgment” would appear to be yours for making such a ludicrous statement concerning the Bunch case. Why in the world would you think that a law enforcement officer engaged in a criminal act should receive special consideration? After reading some of the other cases, you’re obviously not the only one who believes this.

Chief Kirkpatrick, I applaud your release of these files, yet you take offense when Councilman Apple and the media question you about them. Yes, we do have questions about the accountability of our police and fire departments, and no, we’re not going to stop asking questions. If the city government, including Mayor Verner, will not respond to these concerns, then we can and most assuredly will replace them.
