Arraigned Pittsburgh Steelers receiver and Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes was arraigned Wednesday on a misdemeanor marijuana charge stemming from a traffic stop. Holmes’ attorney, Robert DelGreco Jr., appeared at the brief hearing where charges were formally presented. Holmes did not appear.

Died Buffalo Bills vice president Linda Bogdan, daughter of owner Ralph Wilson, has died. Spokesman Scott Berchtold said Bogdan died on Tuesday, but was unable to provide any details, including her age or cause of death. Buffalo’s WIVB-TV, citing sources, reported that Bogdan had been battling cancer.

Released Swiss skier Daniel Albrecht left a hospital in Bern, Switzerland, saying he wants to return to top-level racing after a crash that left him comatose for three weeks.

Named Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is a finalist for a second straight Hart Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player. Fellow Russians Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings were also among the finalists. The winner will be revealed June 18 at the NHL awards show in Las Vegas.

Scheduled Philadelphia Flyers captain Mike Richards will have surgery this week to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, and also needs surgery on his left shoulder and faces to 10 to 12 weeks of rehabilitation.
