Officials: No changes for Bloomsday

The Spokesman-Review
After consulting with the Spokane Regional Health District, Bloomsday will continue as planned, officials announced this afternoon. The health district said there is no need to alter or cancel Bloomsday events because of swine flu concerns, according to a Bloomsday press release. However, health district officials urge those feeling ill to not participate, the release said.
Hotels report no flu cancellations
Two of Spokane’s largest hotels say they have received no flu-related cancellations from Bloomsday runners. Davenport Hotel spokesman Tom McArthur said Thursday morning that the hotel is operating normally, while management monitors news reports and announcements from the Spokane County Health District. “We’ll see where this goes,” McArthur said. Red Lion hotels in the Spokane area also have not been affected, said spokeswoman Julie Langenheim, nor have any of the other 40-plus locations around the West. – Bert Caldwell
