Officials look for source of pollution in Colfax

Associated Press

COLFAX — State Ecology Department researchers will be taking water samples next week along the South Fork Palouse River in Colfax to try to find the source of fecal bacteria.

A study showed large amounts were entering from some source within a mile-and-a-half stretch of the river in Colfax.

The department says it’s working with the cities of Colfax, Pullman and Moscow; Whitman County; Washington State University; and others to improve the water quality in the river.
