Villwock wins at Seafair

Ellstrom E-Lam Plus leads wire-to-wire in Seattle

SEATTLE – Dave Villwock drove Ellstrom E-Lam Plus to victory Sunday at the Chevrolet Cup at Seafair unlimited hydroplane race.

Villwock averaged 137.532 mph and led wire-to-wire in the winner-take-all final heat on Seattle’s Lake Washington.

Villwock was challenged by Steve David, driving Oh Boy! Oberto, during the first two laps of the five-lap race. But David backed off after hitting rough water, allowing Villwock to pull away.

David’s boat had more problems later in the heat, allowing Jimmy King in Grand View on the Lake to take second, and J.W. Myers in Hoss Mortgage Investors to move into third.

Jeff Bernard finished fourth in Formulaboats.com and Kip Brown placed fifth in USNW Express. David’s Oberto was barely running as it crossed the line for sixth place.
