Chelan golf? Absolutely

CHELAN – Pull almost any free visitors’ guide off a rack in the lobby of a motel in central Washington, and you will finds pages and pages of pictures and stories dealing with all there is to do in the Lake Chelan area in the summer. But the activity that seems to get short changed in nearly every one of those types of publications is golf, which typically ends up getting a first mention behind the numerous summer festivals held in the region, as well as the opportunities to go fishing, swimming, boating, river rafting, kayaking, mountain biking and hang gliding. Still, with the addition of Bear Mountain Ranch in 2005, the region, in the minds of many, has been raised to that of a must-stop destination for any serious golfer in the Pacific Northwest. Along with Bear Mountain Ranch, the Lake Chelan area also includes two other outstanding 18-hole golf courses in the city owned Lake Chelan Golf Course and the pristine-again layout at Desert Canyon Resort in nearby Orondo. All three offer distinctively different golfing experiences at reasonable prices. And they continued to add immensely to the summertime allure of the popular Lake Chelan.
