Otter says he’ll seek re-election
BOISE – Gov. Butch Otter says he’ll run again in 2010.
The Republican told KPVI-TV of Pocatello that “I fully intend to run again” – before adding he’s waiting for the appropriate time to make an official announcement.
Otter beat Jerry Brady, a Democrat, in 2006 to win the governor’s post. He’s been raising money for a renewed run but hadn’t confirmed he would seek re-election.
Otter ended the first six months of 2009 with $117,800 in campaign cash on hand.
Others running for governor in the 2010 primary on the GOP ticket include anti-abortion activist Pro-Life, Ada County Commissioner Sharon Ullman and former elk rancher Rex Rammell. Jana Kemp, a former Boise GOP lawmaker, is running as an independent.
