I wonder what it’ll take to get some of you to check out Scanner Traffic on Huckleberries Online? The Spokesman-Review does a good job giving you news of significant crime and mayhem in the Coeur d’Alene area. Scanner Traffic finishes the jobs by telling you why the sirens are wailing in your ’hood, for lesser incidents. To tempt you to read, I’m going to provide the gist from one weekday’s Scanner Traffic, from last Monday.

2:25 p.m. Woman has questions re: setting up a target practice area at her residence on Blue Creek Road/Coeur d’Alene … 2:22 p.m. Reporting party reports tires stolen off his vehicle while he was mowing lawn in 7800 block of 4th Street/Dalton Gardens … 2:21 p.m. A green utility vehicle is broken down and partially blocking Prairie Avenue between Idaho and Spokane/Post Falls … 2:11 p.m. An apartment dweller on Shiloh Loop reports that two Hondas are racing up Loch Haven/Hayden … 2:10 p.m. Reporting party wants police to check a drunken man behind a local Shell gas station … 1:38 p.m. A large bull moose is in the middle of the eastbound lanes of I-90 on 4th of July Pass, challenging traffic … 1:23 p.m. A vehicle has hit a light pole in Target parking lot … 12:41 p.m. A station wagon is fully engulfed in flames in Money Tree parking lot, near Wal-Mart/Post Falls …

12:30 p.m. Dog catcher has dog-bite “suspect” in custody … 12:04 p.m. Reporting party reports that a male is beating on his vehicle @ Rutledge Trailhead parking lot at Silver Beach, east of Coeur d’Alene … 11:59 a.m. Domino’s reports that two males have repeatedly turned off power to the business … 11:36 a.m. The speed sign and a “reduced speed” sign are missing from the eastbound lanes of Seltice Way, near old Atlas Road … 10:50 a.m. R/P claims his daughter-in-law is making harassing phone calls … 10:47 a.m. Woman reports from Hauser Smoke Shop that two people are lying motionless by a gray vehicle along the road at High Prairie and Highway 53 … 10:43 a.m. Male lying under bushes near Paul Bunyan restaurant … 8:52 a.m. Hayden mother has canceled a runaway report after she found her son.
