No crime committed in reported kidnapping

A kidnapping reported in north Spokane turned out to be a dispute between family members headed to visit an inmate at the Spokane County Jail. A teenage girl tried jumping out of the family’s car as it was stopped at West Cascade Way and North Wall Street about 12:30 p.m. Family members pulled her back in and “she starts screaming bloody murder,” said Sgt. Dave Reagan. Witnesses reported a kidnapping to 911, and state, county and city law enforcement responded to the call. The inmate is the girl’s uncle, Reagan said.
