Voting deadline is today

Today is the last day for Washington voters to cast their ballots in local primary elections.

Cities and towns as well as school, fire, water and sewer districts are whittling down any office on the November ballot with more than two candidates.

Southeastern Washington’s 9th Legislative District has a special election to fill an open House of Representatives seat that has drawn five candidates. And voters in Spokane County are being asked whether to extend a one-tenth of 1 percent sales tax for law enforcement.

Ballots were mailed nearly three weeks ago and they must be marked, sealed, stamped, mailed and postmarked by today. They can also be deposited – no stamp needed – in drop boxes or voter service centers by 8 p.m.
