Warm, seasonal weather is expected today and Tuesday with something of a warming trend likely later this week.
Highs today are expected to reach 80 at Spokane International Airport, which is just 1 degree below normal for the day.
Slightly warmer temperatures are expected downtown with a high of 83. Elsewhere, highs today are forecast at 81 in Spokane Valley, 82 in Post Falls and 83 in Coeur d’Alene. Cloudless skies and calm conditions are forecasted for the first part of the day. Light winds and a few clouds are possible later in the day.
A ridge of high pressure in the Pacific Ocean should keep the weather warm and dry with weak disturbances moving through the fair weather during the week, forecasters said.
Breezy conditions are expected on Tuesday from a dry cold front passing through area. The National Weather Service said gusts could hit 21 mph.
On Sunday, wind gusts reached 25 mph at the airport.
By Thursday, highs may reach the lower 90s across the region.
At 7 a.m. today, temperatures were markedly cooler in some locations, showing the change to late summer conditions. It was 50 at the airport, 45 in Sandpoint, 56 in Coeur d’Alene, 43 in Deer Park and 45 in Pullman.
