Police seek witnesses to drive-by shooting

MONDAY, AUG. 24, 2009, 12:24 P.M.

A drive-by shooting last week occurred after people in an SUV asked a group outside a house about a party, then came back and fired a handgun.

A 23-year-old Medical Lake man was shot in the stomach in the incident, which occurred about 2 a.m. Aug. 20 near Maxwell and Belt.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information that helps solve the crime.

The victim and several others were outside the house when people in the white SUV, described as a 1994 to 1998, four-door Yukon, Suburban or Expedition, asked about a party.

One of the men outside the home said there no party, and the SUV returned 15 to 20 minutes later with the front seat passenger window partially rolled down.

“The front passenger extended his arm out and fired a handgun several times into the air, and then into the group in front of the home,” according to a news release. “The SUV continued on and turned northbound on Belt. Some witnesses put the number of occupants inside the SUV at two, others at four.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (509) 327-5111.
