Driver in Valley accident commits suicide, police say
A Spokane man killed himself after rear-end collision on Trent Avenue Tuesday.
The 57-year-old made a lane change in a westbound 1997 Ford F-350 pickup when he hit a delivery truck at 12:15 p.m. near Fowler Road in Spokane Valley, according to Washington State Patrol.
The delivery truck driver, 27-year-old Matthew P. Risley, was not injured.
A witness contacted both drivers after the accident and said neither were injured, investigators said. The driver of the Ford pickup was found dead in his truck from a self-inflicted gun shot wound, WSP said.

One more reason that automatically assigning blame in all rear end accidents to the rear ender just might be a bit draconian and unfair.

seems weird that he committed suicide over a fender-bender.

I found it very hard to actually understand what happened in this incident given he very poor writing skills displayed in this article. Even the title of the article is confusing. Is anyone proof reading at the S-R?

I agree, the story is very vague and lacking in detail which would clarify the incident to us, the readers. Perhaps they should’ve waited to print this until more background had been found.
