Reform critic lacks evidence

The Spokesman-Review

I am writing in response to the Nov. 13 letter from Patricia Hammond, in which she argues against new plans for federal health care. It’s clear she’s more concerned with expressing her own opinion and creating unproven assumptions than providing any concrete evidence to prove her claims are true.

She feels President Barack Obama’s federal health care plan “is intended to ruin freedom.” How exactly does it? Obama’s new health care plan is not about taking from the “organized and successful” and giving to the poor. She assumes they would be the only recipients of free health care. They would receive it, but not just them. What about the hard-working class who struggle to make ends meet and still can’t afford it? Have a heart, and put yourselves in their shoes. Everyone deserves to have health care.

Also, comparing Obama’s intentions with that of the Gestapo is just plain ridiculous. It’s time to turn off Glenn Beck and instead read up on the health care possibilities for what they are and support your position on issues with valid proof and facts. Making unproven assumptions and creating logical fallacies isn’t the best way to go about it.
