Vikings’ win streak hits 33

Looking to extend its 32-game winning streak, the Coeur d’Alene girls basketball team (4-0) watched a 10-point halftime lead against University (0-1) dwindle to three after three quarters, but held off the comeback bid by U-Hi to win 55-48 in non-league action Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.

The Vikings were led by Carli Rosenthal’s 10 points and 10 rebounds, while U-Hi’s Zoe Scott led all scorers with 18.

In other non-league action, playing its first game of the season against Lake City (4-1), Mt. Spokane struggled against the press and gave up 24 turnovers while LC was led by 24 points on six 3-pointers from Jasmine Smith, winning 58-36 at Mt. Spokane. … Abi Quinnett’s 22 points led three Moscow players in double figures in the Bears’ (1-5) 69-41 win over Clarkston (0-1) in Moscow. … Laikyn Brophy scored 17 and Cheney (1-0) forced 27 turnovers, including 15 steals, to upend Rogers (0-1) 78-30 in Cheney. … Newport (1-0) took an eight-point lead into the half against Selkirk (0-1) and ran away with a 60-25 victory in Ione. Miranda Frederick and Courtney Wiese finished with 12 points to lead the Grizzlies. … Megan McIntyre scored 14 points and Freeman (1-0) led by 16 after one quarter and beat Kellogg (3-2) 50-28 in Kellogg. … Madeline Isaak scored 30 points and Nikki Osborne added 23 points and nine rebounds as Almira/Coulee-Hartline (1-0) knocked off visiting Davenport (0-1) 70-50. … Kelly Van Lith scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the first quarter and Alli Winters hit five 3-pointers as visiting St. John-Endicott opened its season with a 52-30 win over Sprague-Harrington (0-1). … Springdale (1-0) stormed back from seven points behind in the first overtime to force a second OT before beating Columbia (0-1) 70-67 in Hunters.
