Colbert rallies PF past Shadle
Marcus Colbert scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half Thursday to lead Post Falls to a 71-64 non-league win at Shadle Park in a season opener for both teams.
Robby Douglas scored 34 points for the Highlanders.
Shadle broke out with a 25-point first quarter, but Post Falls capped the night with a 27-point four quarter.
Shadle shot 17 of 29 from the free-throw line while the Trojans finished 12 of 14.
Matt Lickfold added 15 points for the Trojans.
Deer Park 66, Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 43: The Stags (1-0) used a 20-8 third-quarter scoring advantage to pull away from the visiting Eagles (0-1). Colton Peone paced Deer Park with 15 points. Jared Pyeatt added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Stags. Jake Erickson and Chris Cochrane scored 13 points apiece for Lakeside.
Springdale 55, Odessa 47: Tomaz Symonowiez scored 17 points to lead the Chargers (2-0) over the Tigers (0-1) at home. Kramer Schultz scored 19 for Odessa. Springdale outscored Odessa 17-6 in the third quarter. Rodney Abrahamson added 11 points in the win.
Selkirk 80, Kettle Falls 46: A 45-17 halftime lead was more than enough for the Rangers (1-1) to win on the road over the Bulldogs (0-1). Zach Jensen led all scorers with 28. Kasey Morgan paced Kettle Falls with 15.
Riverside 73, Timberlake 49: Senior Kelly Vaughn tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in the Rams’ (1-0) home win over the Tigers (1-1). Travis Porter’s 14 points led Timberlake. Dustin Martin tallied five points, six rebounds, three steals and seven assists for Riverside.
Northport 72, Curlew 33: Jeremiah Johnson had 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals as the host Mustangs (1-0) defeated the Cougars (0-1). Tanner Somday’s 15 points paced Curlew. Palmer Quilter and Philip Johnson each added 10 points for Northport. Chris Browning chipped in eight points for Curlew.

St. Maries 45, Orofino 39: Jake Mercer led the Lumberjacks down the stretch in a road win over the Maniacs in a season opener for both. St. Maries overcame a six-point deficit with 4 minutes remaining as it overcame a 4-for-14 free-throw shooting night. Tanner Sampson chipped in 11 points for the Lumberjacks.
