Maniacs shoot past Lumberjacks

Monique Stamper scored 13 points and Orofino shot 11 of 15 from the free-throw line to hold off host St. Maries 40-36 in Intermountain League play Thursday.

Dusti Huddleston had 15 points and 10 rebounds for St. Maries (2-3, 0-2).

St. Maries was undone by 6-for-21 shooting from the free-throw line and 15 first-half turnovers.

Non-league

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 52, Deer Park 26: Leslie Stillar’s 18 points – including three 3-pointers – paced the visiting Eagles (1-0) over Deer Park (0-1). Stillar finished 3 of 7 from long range. Alison Ruygrok’s nine points and four steals led the Stags. Lexie Zappone added 13 for Lakeside, including six in the third quarter. The Eagles pulled away with an 18-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter.

Kettle Falls 60, Selkirk 44: Samantha Charlton scored 22 points to lead the Bulldogs (1-0) to a home win over the Rangers (0-2). Kammi Sharp and Angelina MacArthur each had 10 points for Selkirk. Kettle Falls tallied 19 steals, including five by Charlton. Darby Sellars added 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Timberlake 49, Riverside 29: The Tigers (6-0) were led by Cassie Thompson’s 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting to win at Riverside (0-1). Thompson scored 10 in the first quarter when Timberlake jumped out to an 18-1 lead.

Lewiston 72, Sandpoint 24: The Bengals (4-1) jumped to a 47-13 halftime lead and never looked back against the visiting Bulldogs (0-5). Nicole Redd paced all scorers with 29 points. Kaci Baldwin added 11 points for Lewiston.

Curlew 45, Northport 35: Seven players scored for Curlew (1-0), led by Chanel Somday’s 11. Shyanne Wilson’s 21 points led Northport (0-1). Larissa Miller chipped in eight points for Curlew.

Colton 57, Grangeville 56: Kelsey Moser scored a game-high 30 points, including two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to put Colton (1-0) ahead by four over host Grangeville (3-2). The largest lead by either team was seven points, and the game was tied at 53 with a minute left to play. Kylie Brown led Grangeville with 19 points, including a 3-pointer as time expired to give her four for the game. Both teams struggled from the line, finishing a combined 22 of 40.

Springdale 80, Odessa 9: The Chargers jumped to a 20-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Led by Shelbea Rainbolt’s 19 points and eight steals, Springdale (2-0) protected its home court over the Tigers (0-1). Odessa couldn’t keep pace with Springdale’s running style. Jerika Cummings added 16 points for the Chargers.
