Victim didn’t lack attention

The Spokesman-Review

I want the family and friends of Elaine Price-Cornell to know how sorry the community is that Elaine, visiting Spokane from Canada to do some shopping, was struck by a suspected drunken driver and died a week later. I want them to know that she was loved and well cared for after she was hit.

A woman on the sidewalk immediately called 911; a young man followed the car that hit her; a man took his coat off and placed it on Elaine to keep her warm; another woman and I knelt on each side of her, comforting her with gentle touches and words of love; a bystander made the sign of the cross while praying for her; a police officer carefully kept her mouth and nose clear; and an ambulance crew quickly got her to the hospital.

All of us that came together that cold Friday night to help Elaine will never forget her.
