Don’t fault Huckabee’s faith
My heart goes out to the four police officers shot by a very wicked man with a history of violence that showed his proclivity to do bad things. It’s a shame, however, that some blame is funneled to Gov. Huckabee, rather than holding the offender accountable completely.
Gov. Huckabee did NOT pardon this violent man. The Arkansas Parole Board is responsible for initiating all actions of clemency. In this case, they sent a notice of intent to commute the sentence of a 16-year-old offender to 47 years and not to time served, which eventually led to parole.
Gov. Huckabee’s beliefs are founded on Christian morals, ethics and goals, which support him when tough decisions need to be made. It is reprehensible that his faith in the Lord is attacked because a violent man did a dastardly act (Froma Harrop, “No pardon for Huckabee’s errors,” Dec. 5).
Gov. Huckabee does not bear any responsibility for this horrible act. Be assured, leaders who hold Christian values so dearly do not support monsters that kill innocent policemen. It is a liberal agenda that twists the horrible murder of cops around to charge the Christian beliefs of a good man as being the cause.
