Eagles win double-OT thriller
Brenden Herzer hit a 3-point shot with 6 seconds left in regulation to send Lakeside (3-1) to overtime against Riverside (2-1), and Chris Cochrane’s 3-pointer in the second overtime gave the Eagles a commanding six-point lead in a 65-58 victory in Nine Mile Falls.
Herzer led all scorers with 17 points, Cochrane added 13 and Ryan Gunderson had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Freeman 64, Colville 38: Peter Heinen finished with 16 points and eight rebounds and the Scotties (2-3) snapped a three-game losing skid with a victory over the Indians (0-1) at the HUB in Liberty Lake.
Glacier 65, Lake City 57: Shab Smithwickhann scored 21 points to lead the Wolfpack over the Timberwolves (4-1) in Kalispell, Mont. Chris Wheelock scored 16 points to lead three LC players in double figures.
Chewelah 51, Kellogg 42: Josh Christian scored seven of his 11 points in the third quarter as the Cougars (4-0) opened the second half on a 9-0 run to outlast the Wildcats (2-3) in Kellogg. Dallas Garner led the Cougars with 16 points and Blaze Smith had 11.
Davenport 49, Riverside Christian 37: Joey Gunning scored 11 points and Jarod Gunning added 10 as the Gorillas (3-0) upended the Crusaders (2-1) in Yakima.
Moscow 64, Pullman 52: Nick Clyde went 10 of 11 from the floor, finishing with 21 points, and the Bears (5-0) opened a 13-point lead by halftime with 19 second-quarter points to beat the Greyhounds (0-1) in Pullman.
Priest River 64, Newport 26: The Spartans (2-1) jumped out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter and rolled to a win over the Grizzlies (2-2) in Newport. Jake Weimer led the way for the Spartans with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Wilson Creek 55, Sprague-Harrington 45: The Devils hit nine 3-pointers against the Falcons (1-4), outscoring them 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away in Wilson Creek.
District 9 North
Pomeroy 68, St. John-Endicott 50: Trailing by seven after two quarters, the Pirates (2-1, 1-0) took charge after the break, outscoring the host Eagles (2-3, 0-2) 43-18 in the second half, led by Justin Ruark’s 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Rosalia 69, Asotin 50: Jim Maley led the Spartans (4-0, 2-0) with 22 points and 11 rebounds in their win over the Panthers (0-3, 0-1) in Asotin.
Garfield-Palouse 44, Tekoa-Oakesdale 25: Lee Roach tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in the Vikings’ (3-0, 2-0) win over the host Nighthawks (1-1, 0-1).
Colton 73, LaCrosse-Washtucna 39: Josh Straughan and Spencer Jacobs each scored 19 points to lead the Wildcats (1-1, 1-1) to their first win of the season, beating the Tigercats (2-1, 0-1) in Colton. The Wildcats found some separation in the second quarter, putting up 39 points.
Panorama League
Cusick 80, Curlew 32: Tyler Edwards controlled the paint for the Panthers (2-0, 1-0), finishing with 25 points, and Spencer Shanholtzer added 12, as Cusick beat the Cougars (0-4, 0-1) in Curlew.
St. George’s 78, Selkirk 58: Mark Kenney led four players in double figures with 21 points and the Dragons (2-2, 1-0) shot better than 50 percent from the floor to beat the Rangers (2-3, 0-1) in Ione.
Springdale 59, Northport 33: Sam Howard had 15 points and nine rebounds and the Chargers (4-1, 1-0) grabbed 50 total rebounds, including 20 on the offensive end, to beat the Mustangs (2-2, 0-1) in Springdale.
Wellpinit 82, Inchelium 58: Cody Flett’s 19 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists paced the Redskins (3-1, 2-0) in beating the Hornets (2-2, 0-1) in Wellpinit. Drake Wynne also finished with 19 points for the Redskins.
North Star tournament
Kootenai 61, Lakeside 46: The Warriors (1-3) broke loose in a 21-point fourth quarter to earn their first win of the season with Dillon and Jacob Zarpentine scoring a combined 25 points against the Knights (1-3) in the first round of the North Star tournament in Wallace.
Wallace 62, Clark Fork 23: Stephen Heinig had 15 points, Clancy Drews added 13 points and 11 boards and the Miners (2-2) knocked off the Wampus Cats (0-4) in the second game of the North Star tournament. The Miners will meet Kootenai in the championship game.
