Jury: Haq guilty in Seattle Jewish center shootings

Gene Johnson Associated Press
SEATTLE — A jury has found Naveed Haq guilty of murder in his second trial for the 2006 shooting spree at a Seattle Jewish center. Haq’s first trial ended last year with jurors deadlocked on whether the Pasco man was legally insane during the shooting spree on July 28, 2006. The attack left one woman dead and five others injured. This trial was to determines whether the 34-year-old will spend the rest of his life in prison or in a state mental hospital. His own lawyers have conceded he poses a danger to the public and should never be free. The prosecutor argued he carefully planned the shooting and told his family in a jailhouse phone call that he knew what he was doing.
