NC slips past Mead
North Central’s Jared Berlinger won an 11-2 major decision in the 119-pound class over Mead’s Caleb Erb in the final match of the meet to help the Indians rally for a 31-30 win over the host Panthers (1-2) in Greater Spokane League wrestling action Wednesday.
North Central (2-1) won six of the final eight contests, including 103-pounder Kenny Jenks’ 6-5 victory.

Colton Harrison made the transition from football to his first wrestling match a success with a pin for the Titans at 285. Paul Entzminger (160) and Chris Whitfield (171) posted the lone wins for G-Prep. … Darren Bunke (130), Derek Entz (135), Tom Harris (140) and Brendan Tarr (145) posted consecutive pins to help guide the Shadle Park Highlanders (2-1) to a 63-15 win over the visiting Lewis and Clark Tigers (0-3).
Boys basketball
Brady Bagby hit a fadeaway 3-pointer from 30 feet out with 0.5 seconds left in the game to lift the West Valley Eagles (2-2) to a 49-47 victory over the visiting Sandpoint Bulldogs (2-3) in non-league action.
Matt Roth paced WV with 15 points and 17 rebounds, while Jake Bucholz scored 15.
Stephan Buratto scored a game-high 19 for Sandpoint.
•In other non-league games, Zach Lehman tallied 28 points and seven rebounds and Jake Mercer had eight assists and five steals to lead the St. Maries Lumberjacks to a 52-35 win over the visiting Lake City Timberwolves JV. … Justin Podrabsky tossed in 17 points and Zachary Cuddy scored 11 to carry the Lewiston Bengals (4-1) to a 50-46 win over the visiting Pullman Greyhounds (0-3). … Joel Underdahl scored a game-high 21 to propel the visiting Lakeland Hawks (2-1) to a 52-40 win over the Timberlake Tigers (5-2) at Spirit Lake. Derek Pukett scored 11 to top the Tigers. … Cody Flett scored 27 points, eight in the final two minutes, and the visiting Wellpinit Redskins (5-1) held off the Colville Indians 89-83. Drake Wynne added 26 points for Wellpinit. Jordan Anderson had a game-high 30 points for Colville (0-2).
Girls basketball
Katelyn Loper tossed in a game-high 18 points and Krysta Howard scored 14 to lead the Post Falls Trojans (6-3) to a 52-24 non-league victory over the visiting Sandpoint Bulldogs (1-9).
•In other non-league play, Kara Wenstrom’s three-point play with 1.9 seconds left in the game vaulted the Timberlake Tigers (9-1) to a 45-43 victory over the visiting Lakeland Hawks (2-5) at Spirit Lake. Wenstrom finished with 12 points. Cassie Thompson topped Timberlake with 17 points. Megan Ranberg’s 10 points paced Lakeland.
