Balanced Vikings outlast Bengals for victory

Amanda Buttrey threw in a game-high 18 points and teammate Carli Rosenthal yanked down 11 rebounds Friday night as visiting Coeur d’Alene outscored Lewiston by eight points in the final period and pulled away to a 58-48 Inland Empire League 5A victory.

The Vikings (9-0, 1-0) also got 11 points, each from Dayna Drager and Kyeli Parker, while the Bengals (6-2, 0-2) were paced by Karlee Wilson’s 12 points.

North Star League

Mullan 42, Kootenai 21: Nicole Axtman tossed in 14 points and Dannee Beck added 11 in leading the visiting Tigers (4-5, 1-1) past the Warriors (1-5, 0-1) at Harrison.

Lakeside (ID) 31, Wallace 18: Joelle Miller scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds, and the visiting Knights (4-2, 2-0) blocked nine shots in holding off the Miners(3-9, 0-2).

Bi-County League 2B

Reardan 75, Lind-Ritzville 43: Kelsey Moos dropped in a game-high 22 points and Liz Flowers scored eight of her 14 points in the opening period in leading the Indians (3-1, 1-0) to an easy win over the visiting Broncos (2-2, 0-1).

Liberty 52, Davenport 41: The visiting Lancers (1-3, 1-0) used the 20-point scoring effort of Katra Browning to overcome a 23-19 halftime deficit and hand the Gorillas (4-1, 0-1) their first lost. Miranda Mielke finished with 13 points for Davenport.

Colfax 72, Valley Christian 29: Kayleigh Maltone had 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Brittney Burke and Kayla Johnson scored 14 and 12, respectively, to lead the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) to an easy victory over the visiting Crusaders (2-2, 0-1) .

Bi-County League 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 72, Odessa 14: Kodi Noggles finished with 13 points and three of her teammates – Allison Fox, Sarah Gloyn and Nikki Osborne – also scored in double figures as the Warriors (6-0, 1-0) raced to a 57-3 lead after three quarters and remained unbeaten by cuffing the visiting Tigers (1-4, 0-1).

Panorama League

Republic 74, Inchelium 30: The Tigers (5-1, 3-0) launched 98 shots and got scoring contributions from 10 players – including a game-high 20 from Tori Orestad – to drub the visiting Hornets (0-7, 0-4).

Columbia 52, Curlew 29: Mackenzie Parrow finished with a game-high 12 points and teammate Krista Colvin stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, seven assists, six steals and three blocks as the Lions (6-2, 3-1) overwhelmed the visiting Cougars (3-3, 1-2) at Hunters.

District 9

Colton 74, Pomeroy 35: Kelsey Moser and Mollie Kramer combined for 37 points as the unbeaten Wildcats (4-0) jumped to a 24-7 first-quarter lead and cruised past the visiting Pirates (1-3), who got 15 points from Karlei Martin.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 32, LaCrosse-Washtucna 29: Freshman Alexandria Overton put together a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, and teammate Desiree Chappell added 11 points as the Nighthawks (3-2) edged the Tigercats (2-3) in a game plagued by turnovers.

Asotin 44, Garfield-Palouse 20: Shelby Barnes finished with 20 points and the Panthers (3-3, 2-0) outscored the Vikings (0-5, 0-2) 14-0 in the first quarter to keep their 2B North record unblemished.

Priest River Tournament

Priest River 60, Cusick 22: The host Spartans (7-0) used a full-court press to fuel a 21-point third quarter in their romp past the Panthers (0-4). Melissa Hopkins paced the winners with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

West Valley 51, Newport 29: The Eagles (3-0) used the 27-point scoring outburst of Hanna Love and a big second half to brush aside the Grizzlies (4-2).

Lake Roosevelt Tournament

Wellpinit 67, Bridgeport 54: At Coulee Dam, the Redskins (6-1) got 22 points from Lauren Flett and jumped to a 22-6 first-quarter lead in flying past Bridgeport and into today’s 4 p.m. championship game against Omak, which knocked off host Lake Roosevelt in the first round.

Non-league

Northwest Christian 59, Sprague-Harrington 24: Bryanna Bailey scored 16 points and teammate Jessica Dahm added 15 as the Crusaders (2-4) breezed past the visiting Falcons (1-5).

Colville 71, Kettle Falls 44: Tasha Luu scored 13 points to lead a balanced scoring attack and the Indians (2-1) made 19 free throws to overwhelm the visiting Bulldogs (5-2), despite Samantha Charlton’s game-high 15 points.

Post Falls 64, Lakeland 33: The visiting Trojans (7-3) took advantage of 31 Lakeland turnovers and Brooke Litalien’s game-high 15 points to put away the Hawks (2-6).

Lakeside (WA) 66, Medical Lake 29: Lexie Zappone scored 16 points to lead a balanced attack as the visiting Eagles (6-1) breezed to an easy win over the Cardinals (1-4).

Deer Park 55, Chewelah 12: Stacia Obert had 14 points to lead the Stags (1-2) to an easy 55-12 triumph over the visiting Cougars (0-7).

North Idaho Christian 45, Coeur d’Alene Charter 33: Paige Kelly scored 13 points for CdA Charter, but it wasn’t enough to keep the visiting Panthers (5-3) from falling to NICS.
