Davenport still perfect

Jarod Gunning scored 16 points and helped fuel a big second half for undefeated Davenport Friday night, and the Gorillas went on to post a 61-42 win over visiting Bi-County League 2B rival Liberty.

Chris Becker pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for Davenport (5-0, 1-0), while Eric Hammon paced Liberty (0-4, 0-1) with 13 points.

Lind-Ritzville 51, Reardan 45: The visiting Broncos (3-1, 1-0) got 15 points from James Stevenson and shot 50 percent from the field in outlasting the Indians (2-2, 0-1), who got a game-high 20 points from Grant Schultz.

Colfax 83, Valley Christian 24: Brandon Gfeller scored 11 of his 17 points in the first quarter and the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) outscored the visiting Panthers (1-3, 0-1) 51-6 in the first half to cruise to a win.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 71, Odessa 38: Cody Dillon pumped in 22 points and Brandon Boutain added 15 as the Warriors (4-2, 1-0) raced past the visiting Tigers (3-4, 0-1).

North Star League

Kootenai 55, Mullan 41: Jacob Zarpentine posted a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double and Dillon Zarpentine added 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Warriors (4-3, 1-0) opened league play by tripping the Tigers (2-4, 0-1).

District 9

Garfield-Palouse 60, Asotin 46: Gavin Burt had 25 points, six steals and four assists in leading the Vikings (4-1, 1-1) past the visiting Panthers (3-2, 0-1) in a North division 2B matchup.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 61, LaCrosse-Washtucna 34: Drake Hinkins dropped in 28 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and made five steals in helping lift the Nighthawks (2-3) to a comfortable win over the visiting Tigercats (3-3) in a 2B/1B matchup.

Colton 70, Pomeroy 57: Josh Straughan finished with 24 points and 11 assists as the host Wildcats (3-1) defeated the Pirates (2-3) in their first game since popular Colton science teacher Glenn Voshell died in a hunting accident.

Panorama League

Columbia 41, Curlew 35: The Lions (1-7, 1-3) used a balanced scoring attack that was paced by Eli Bear’s 10 points to outlast the visiting Cougars (0-6, 0-3).

Inchelium 53, Republic 34: Tony Louie’s 16 points and a strong rebounding effort were keys as the visiting Hornets (4-3, 2-2) made their way past the Tigers (4-2, 2-1).

Priest River Tournament

Priest River 56, Clark Fork 20: The host Spartans (4-1) used a 14-point, eight-rebound effort by Mikey Bach and stifling defensive pressure to post an easy first-round win over the Wampus Cats (0-7) in the round-robin event.

Cusick 62, Newport 53: Clint Hunt scored 16 points and hauled down nine rebounds in leading the Panthers (5-0) past the Grizzlies (2-4), who got 13 points from Spencer Shanholtzer.

Lake Roosevelt tourney

Wellpinit 82, Lapwai 42: Cody Flett had 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists and Kennedy Seyler added 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Redskins (6-1) dusted off the Wildcats and earned a berth into tonight’s 5:30 title game at Coulee Dam.

Lake Roosevelt 49, Omak 26: The Raiders (3-2) made their way to the title game by knocking of Pioneers (3-3). Cade Egbert led the Raiders with 11 points.

Non-league

Northwest Christian 73, Sprague-Harrington 17: Kwinn Hanson tossed in 22 points and the Crusaders (4-2) sprinted to a 41-7 halftime leading in easily disposing of the visiting Falcons (1-5).

Chewelah 56, Deer Park 51: The visiting Cougars (5-2) used an 8-0 run to start the third quarter and 14 points from Josh Christian to hold off the Stags (2-1). Carson Stroyan had eight of his 11 points in the pivotal third quarter for Chewelah.

Colville 79, Kettle Falls 33: Along with getting a game-high 15 points from Jordan Anderson, the Indians (1-2) also forced 38 turnovers in breaking down the visiting Bulldogs (1-6).

Lakeside (WA) 51, Medical Lake 43: The visiting Eagles (4-3) used a 10-0 run to open he fourth quarter and got 16 points from Jake Erickson in beating the Cardinals (1-4).

Post Falls 67, Lakeland 53: Connor Hill scored 16 points and Marcus Colbert added 13 as the visiting Trojans (4-1) dumped the Hawks (3-1) in matchup of Inland Empire 5A and 4A teams.
