Still a Zags fan

The Spokesman-Review

Dick Brauner (Letters, Dec. 13), I’m curious, what sports were you “in and around for the last 50 years?” Badminton? Lawn bowling?

David Greaves (Letters, Dec. 13), was the “defenseless Wake Forest student” who Elias Harris “assaulted” (according to you), wearing a Wake Forest basketball uniform? I’ll answer that one for you – yes, he was. This is significant, as that makes him a “player”. I’ll grant you, his defense wasn’t very good, but “defenseless?” That’s a little harsh, dude.

What you two don’t seem to understand is that college basketball is a tough, physical, contact sport. Elias delivered a hard foul and his forearm went higher than intended, but there was no malice intended and he and the Zags paid the price as he was ejected and the team had to finish the game without him.

As far as I’m concerned, Coach Few and his team are above reproach (“gone over to the dark side,” Mr. Brauner? Oh, please.) I will continue to be a devout fan.
