Cougars fall to Wolf Pack in non-conference finale

RENO, Nev. – The Washington State University women’s basketball team dropped its final regular-season non-conference game of the 2009-10 season, falling to Nevada 75-54 Tuesday at Lawlor Events Center.

The Cougars (5-6) had a trio of double-digit scorers, including sophomore guard April Cook, who scored a team-high 17 points. Sophomore forward Rosie Tarnowski and freshman guard KiKi Moore each added 10 points.

The Wolf Pack (6-5) overcame a six-point deficit however, building a six-point advantage of their own on the heels of a 16-4 Nevada run. The squads swapped leads six times in the first half, but Nevada’s 50-percent shooting effort (15 of 30) carried it to a 34-29 advantage at intermission.

Nevada built its lead to nine in the opening minutes of the second half, and after improving its shooting percentage to 52 percent (13 of 25) in the latter stanza, extended the advantage to the game’s final margin of 21.

In addition to Moore’s 10 points – her 10th double-digit scoring game in 11 outings this season – she also recorded a game-high three steals. Fellow freshman Carly Noyes recorded the fifth multiple-block game of her young career, and has 15 blocks this season.
