Armed robber holds up Spokane espresso shop

An armed robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money today in a holdup of an espresso business on Spokane’s North Side.

The robbery at Jitterz Java, 2315 W. Northwest Blvd., occurred at 6:20 a.m., and the robber fled on foot to the west. The incident may have been captured on video surveillance, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was white and about 40 years old. He wore a baseball cap and a bandanna over his mouth.

    Why 0600?? can’t imagine there was much in the cash drawer that early in the mornin… gettin pretty desperate out there….. Can someone explain to me the difference in the charges and the sentencing for an armed robbery vs an unarmed robbery./? j

    First-degree robbery (class-A felony in RCW 9A.56.200) applies to the use or threat of a weapon, inflicting injury to the victim or robbery of a financial institution. Second-degree robbery (class-B felony) is the use of force or fear to take something from someone.
