T-Wolves prevail

Chris Wheelock scored 10 points in the second half, though none were bigger than the three he tallied with eight seconds left, as his shot from beyond the arc gave Lake City the lead for good against Foss (5-1) for the 49-48 win at the Holiday Showcase Monday at Spokane Falls.

Wheelock led the Timberwolves (9-1) with 17 points to match the 17 scored by the Falcons’ Jamal Byrd.

Curtis 68, Ferris 65: Davonte Lacy scored 18 points and James Coocs scored a pair of field goals in the final five seconds to lift the Vikings (8-0) over the Saxons (2-4) at Spokane Falls. Connor Halliday scored 17 of his 24 in the second half for the Saxons, who play Foss today at 1:30 p.m. Curtis plays Lake City at 6 p.m. in the first semifinal.

Shadle Park 82, South Kamloops 20: Scott Anderson scored 14 points, Dan Munson added 11 and the Highlanders (7-1) scored at least 20 points in the final three quarters to bury the Titans in the first round of the Holiday Showcase at Spokane Falls.

Kentridge 60, Lewis and Clark 50: Gary Bell scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half, including four 3-point buckets, to help lead the Chargers (6-2) over the Tigers (2-5) at Spokane Falls. Levi Taylor scored 18 points in the loss for LC. The Chargers will play Shadle in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m., while LC will play South Kamloops at 3 p.m.

Non-league

Gonzaga Prep 67, Seattle Prep 53: Ryan Nicholas shot 16 of 18 from the floor for 34 points to go with 12 rebounds and Chris Sarbaugh added 14 assists and eight points as the Bullpups (7-1) withstood a late run to beat the Panthers (6-2), holding D.J. Fenner to just 12 points at Gonzaga Prep.

CdA Holiday Inn Express Invitational

Coeur d’Alene 91, Lincoln 90: With three seconds left in the second overtime, Devon Austin put in the game-tying bucket and then sank the ensuing free throw to lift the Vikings (7-1) to a marathon victory over the Abes (3-4) in Coeur d’Alene. Austin scored 30 for the Vikings in the game, leading four CdA players in double figures, while the Abes were led by Damani Coley’s 25 points.

The Vikings will play Walla Walla at 5:30 p.m. today.

University 60, Chief Sealth 39: Spencer Drury hit five 3-pointers, scoring 16 points, and the Titans (5-1) used their speed to outgun the Seahawks (3-3) at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. The Titans play Lincoln today at 10 a.m.

Post Falls 84, Walla Walla 75 (OT): Shawn Reid scored 23 points, including seven in the overtime period, to push the Trojans (6-1) to a win over the Blue Devils, despite 40 points from Gary Winston in Coeur d’Alene.

Greg Larson Memorial Christmas Classic

Priest River 41, West Valley 39: Jake Weimer scored eight points, including the game-winning layup as time expired, for the Spartans (6-2), who knocked off the Eagles (2-3) in Freeman.

Freeman 56, Bonners Ferry 32: Peter Heinen led with 13 points and 10 boards and Taylor Vold scored 11 as the Scotties (6-3) knocked off the Badgers (3-3) in Freeman.

Spartan Holiday Tournament

Asotin 48, Liberty 45: Ben Servatius tallied 17 points and 14 rebounds and the Panthers (6-2) held on to their lead against the Lancers (1-7) on a big 3-pointer by Greg Jose with less than three minutes remaining in Rosalia.

Rosalia 51, Coeur d’Alene Charter 34: Nathan Richards and Jim Maley combined for 33 points and the Spartans (9-0) held the Panthers (6-3) to 12-of-40 shooting in Rosalia. The Spartans will play Asotin for the title at 7:30 p.m.
