Boys basketball: Curtis tops LC

Dominique Williams scored 20 points for the Curtis Vikings, who held Lake City’s leading scorer Chris Wheelock to six points en route to a 51-44 victory in the first semifinal game of the Holiday Showcase Tuesday at Spokane Falls CC.

Mark Smyly scored 12 to lead the Timberwolves (9-2), who play Shadle Park at 5 tonight for third place. The Vikings play Kentridge at 6:30 for the championship.

Kentridge 58, Shadle Park 56: Robby Douglas scored the last three of his 27 points to bring the Highlanders (6-2) even with the Chargers at 56-56, but Cody Rasmussen hit a jumper with 8 seconds remaining to give the Chargers the victory. Gary Bell scored 23 for Kentridge.

Foss 75, Ferris 74: Moogie Lentz hit the go-ahead bucket with 6 seconds remaining in overtime to push the Falcons past the Saxons (2-5) in the consolation bracket. Connor Halliday had given the Saxons the lead on the previous possession for the last of his 17 points and Riley Stockton scored a game-high 28 points in the loss.

Lewis and Clark 68, South Kamloops 29: The Tigers (3-4) had 10 players record points, led by 10 from Nic Hostetler and jumped out to a 21-point lead by halftime in a rout of the Titans.

CdA Invite

Lincoln 62, University 57: C.J. Wright scored 13 to lead the Abes, who held off the Titans (5-2) despite 23 points and 12 rebounds from Kyle Bailey and eight U-Hi 3-pointers at the Cd’A Holiday Inn Express Invitational in Coeur d’Alene. The Titans play Walla Walla today at 4:30 p.m.

Walla Walla 51, Coeur d’Alene 49: The Vikings (7-2) had their comeback bid fall just short of the Blue Devils, who were led by Michael Weisner’s 22 points and 19 from Gary Winston in Coeur d’Alene. Devon Austin had 14 for the Vikings, who play Chief Sealth today at 10:30 a.m.

Post Falls 71, Chief Sealth 63: Shawn Reid scored 16 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and added 12 boards to boost the Trojans (7-1) to a win over the Seahawks in Coeur d’Alene. The Trojans play Lincoln today at noon.

Wenatchee Tourney

Auburn 64, Mead 59: The Panthers (5-2) battled back from an early deficit to send the game into overtime, but the Trojans used a 6-0 run in the extra period to put the game away in Wenatchee. The Trojans were led by 23 points by Kevin Henderson, while Aaron Dunn scored 19 for the Panthers. Mead plays Puyallup today at 1 p.m.

Blackhawk Invite

East Valley 61, Mt. Spokane 45: Four players finished in double figures for the Knights (1-6), led by 19 points from Ryan McIntyre, and EV pulled away from the Wildcats (0-7) with a 25-point third quarter in Cheney.

Cheney 71, Lake Roosevelt 61: DeAngelo Jones led all scorers with 26 points and added 10 rebounds for a double-double against the Raiders, and the Blackhawks (3-2) used an early 10-point lead to advance to the championship game against East Valley today at 5:45 p.m. in Cheney.

Yakima Shootout

Colfax 42, Burbank 40: James Robinson scored 17 points and Tanner Gay added 12 for the Bulldogs (4-1), who held off a late run to beat the Coyotes at the Yakima SunDome Shootout in Yakima. The Bulldogs play La Salle today at 4:30 p.m.

Naches Valley 51, Colville 40: Weston Parker scored 19 points and the Rangers outscored the Indians (1-4) 32-19 in the first half to earn the victory in Yakima. Colville plays Vashon Island today at 1:30 p.m.

La Salle 55, Newport 49: The Lightning were paced by 20 points from Mike McGee and held on to beat the Grizzlies (3-6), despite 17 points from Chaize Exkano in Yakima. The Grizzlies wrap up their tournament against Naches Valley today at noon.

Larson Memorial

St. George’s 63, Bonners Ferry 61: Jordan Dickson scored 23 points and the Dragons (5-4) used three straight free throws to gain the final advantage in overtime against the Badgers (3-4) in the final day of the Greg Larson Memorial Christmas Classic in Freeman. Aaron Moe sent the game into overtime for BF with a last-second 3-pointer, while Mat Evans scored all 15 of his points in the second half.

Freeman 45, Priest River 44: Fouled on a full-court pass in the final seconds of regulation, Peter Heinen drilled both free throws to lead the Scotties (7-3) to a comeback victory over the Spartans (6-3) in Freeman. Heinen had 13 points and Taylor Vold added 17 with 12 boards.

Reardan Lions Club

Chewelah 84, Columbia Basin 42: Josh Christian scored 20 points, Blaze Smith tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and the Cougars (8-2) romped over Columbia Basin in the opening round of the Reardan Lions Club Christmas Tournament in Reardan.

Kellogg 58, Reardan 56: Blake Jerome drilled the go-ahead 3-pointer for the Wildcats (4-4) with 5 seconds remaining to knock off the host Indians (2-5) and advance to the championship against Chewelah at 7:15 p.m. Jerome finished with 13 points and Cody Lewis led the Wildcats with 20.

Spartan Tournament

Liberty 49, Coeur d’Alene Charter 38: The Lancers (2-6) held the Panthers (6-4) to just 14 first-half points and Eric Hammond led three Liberty players in double figures with 14 points in the third-place game of the Spartan Holiday Tournament in Rosalia.

Rosalia 57, Asotin 40: Nathan Richards finished with a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, Zach St. John added 12 points with three 3-pointers and added four assists and the Spartans (10-0) pulled away in the third to beat the Panthers (5-3) in the championhip game in Rosalia.

Panorama League

Cusick 62, Springdale 40: Riley Bauer hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points to lead four Panthers (7-2, 4-0) in double figures in a win over the Chargers (6-3, 3-1) in Cusick.

Dayton Tournament

LaCrosse-Washtucna 39, Kiona-Benton 37: Jeff Zimmer scored 10 points in the third quarter on 5-of-5 shooting and totaled 20 of his 25 in the second half and Chris Wargo scored the go-ahead bucket with 8 seconds left as the Tigercats (4-4) edged the Bears in Dayton.

Waterville Tourney

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 61, Manson 53: Cody Jess and Derek Isaak each scored 18 points for the Warriors (5-3) in their win against the Trojans in Waterville. The Warriors play Okanogan today at 4:30 for the tournament title.

Non-league

Pullman 66, Lakeland 27: Wade Meyer led a trio of Greyhounds (1-4) in double figures with 12 points and the Hawks (3-7) shot 9 of 46 from the field, including 0 of 22 from beyond the 3-point arc in Pullman.

Republic 49, Mansfield 30: Justin Wilson scored 14 points down low for the Tigers (6-2), who held a 30-9 lead at halftime in their win over the Kernels in Mansfield.

St. John-Endicott 69, St. Michael’s 51: Kaleb Simon scored a game-high 19 points as the Eagles (9-0) beat the Warriors (0-7) in a game that doubled as a fundraiser for the families of high school football players from Tekoa-Oaksdale/Rosalia and Valley Christian who died this fall.
