Online veggie resources

Steve Petusevsky Sun Sentinel

Over the next few months, many of us will scour the Web for inspiration and information on vegetarian issues, clubs, share groups and resources.

I did some of the legwork to bring you a resource list for everything to do with vegetables.

vegnews.com: Part vegetarian information, part Perez Hilton, part Enquirer, it’s the home site for the magazine of the same name. I like the format as it’s fun and informative without being too political. It features recipes, blogs, travel news and cooking videos.

vegetarian-issues. suite101.com: A solid blog and information center for all vegetarian issues and recipe questions. It’s a great site for beginners and people who may want to eat more vegetarian items.

vegetarian-nutrition. info: This is a portal to many vegetarian sites and resources. You can have your questions answered. Learn everything from the health benefits of chocolate to how to incorporate more green foods into your diet.

vegetariantimes. com: From the magazine of the same name. Vegetarian Times has been through many changes over the years. It features some great recipes, articles on vegetarianism issues, questions and answers and eco-living tips. There is also a community built around this site.

vrg.org: The Vegetarian Resource Group has been around for many years, and this site offers a world of information on vegetarianism, being a vegan and recipes. It even has a section where you can download and print guides for everything from feeding vegetarian kids to vegetarian pregnancy to heart healthy tips.

care2.com/channels/ ecoinfo/vegetarian: This is a clearinghouse for many vegetarian Web sites. From vegetarian cookbooks, to vegetarian dining guides and, yes, vegetarian dating sites (I can’t even imagine), it’s a great vegetarian resource.
