Car slides off High Drive, lands 200 feet down hill

The Spokesman-Review
A car slid down the embankment of High Drive about 5:20 p.m., leaving at least two people trapped inside for more than an hour. Spokane fire crews are still on scene, and are working to get the couple up the steep slippery snow-covered hillside. The car was southbound on High Drive near 31st Avenue, when it slid off the road and down the embankment, coming to a rest on its top about 200 feet from the top. There four people in the car; two of them managed to get out and climb to the road to get help, said Lt. Joe Walker of the Spokane Police Department. Walker said all the vehicle’s occupants appear to be conscious and alert, with minor injuries. The accident happened along a portion of High Drive that does not have guardrails. High Drive is currently closed at 29th.
