Eastern Washington Eagles
RECORD: 4-10 overall, 0-1 Big Sky
COMING UP: Today vs. Sacramento State, 3 p.m., SWX
OUTLOOK: The Eagles, after dropping their Big Sky opener at Portland State on Dec. 5, return to conference play against a Sacramento State team that has exceeded nearly everyone’s expectations. The Hornets, coming off a 2-27 season, were picked to finish last in the Big Sky again this winter. But they have already posted a couple of solid non-conference wins, including a 65-63 upset of Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore. EWU comes in on a five-game skid and still in search of some offensive consistency. Eagles coach Kirk Earlywine stopped short of labeling this a must-win game but admitted it is “extraordinarily important.”
